IFC QF place secured and lots more news!

Intermediate Championship
Milltown had a very busy week starting on the 22nd of August when we travelled to Moynihan Park in Ballynacarrigy to take on Bunbrosna. They were currently top of the group so the lads had a big task in front of them. Bunbrosna were the first to score before Milltown levelled things. Both teams traded points for much of the first half, until Alan Geraghty scored Milltown’s, and the games, only goal to leave the minimum between the sides at half time, Milltown 1-3, Bunbrosna 0-05.
Bunbrosna were the first to score in the second half to level the game, however Milltown then scored four points without reply. Bunbrosna were staring at their first defeat in the championship but they refused to panic and stepped up their game, resulting in them then scoring four points without reply from Milltown to leave the teams level again. Milltown had to dig deep once more, through some excellent defending from our back line and dominance at centre field , Milltown were able to come good again and kicked over a flurry of points to leave the end score, Milltown 1-12, Bunbrosna 0-11.
The following Saturday, Milltown then travelled to Shandonagh to play Castletown Finea Coole Whitehall in their final group game. After the win during the week, Milltown now had their sights set on a quarter final spot but CFCW had other ideas. Milltown were slow to get into the game but through some excellent scores from both play and from frees, Milltown went in at the break leading 0-09 to 0-04. The second half, Milltown scored 8 points without reply. The game was almost over before Willie Keegan netted for Milltown. CFCW went straight up the field then and scored an excellent goal. However this was the last score of the game and left Milltown in an Intermediate Quarter Final. Not only that, they will also be competing in Group 1 of the Intermediate Championship next year.
