Plenty of club news this week!
Our lads had another outing in the Division 3 league on Friday, when they welcomed Garrycastle to our home soil. The first half was a great watch for all the spectators with the two teams trading scores during the first 30 mins. Milltown were first to score a point, with Garrycastle then getting two, Milltown replied wth two themselves. Garrycastle got then added another two before Milltown went up and got their first goal of the match. The teams traded points before Milltown got another goal just before the stroke of half time. Half time score Milltown 2-05, Garrycastle 0-06.
Garrycastle got the first point of the second half, but the result was never in doubt from the next 10 minutes when Milltown raced into a comprehensive lead. With some excellent work by the backs, and excellent shooting by the forwards, the scores seemed to keep coming until the final whistle. Final score Milltown 5-12, Garrycastle 1-10.
Milltown had another game on Saturday evening when they travelled to Kilbeggan to take on the Shamrocks in their next Division 6 fixture. It was a good close first half with some tough running from both sides. Milltown went in leading at the break by 0-05 to Kilbeggan 0-03.
The second half was just as close with both teams really giving it their all to try and secure a win. Scores were traded by both for the 30 minutes, but Milltown made the difference by scoring a much required goal at the right time. This was to be the difference at the end of the game, with Milltown running out winners by 1-10 to Kilbeggan 0-11.
