Baby BOOM for Milltown!
Our lads had their penultimate round of the Division Three league on Sunday evening when they travelled into St Lomans to take on the home side. Milltown were first out of the blocks and had three points on the board in the first couple of minutes, but within the space of a four minute period St Lomans had two goals scored to take the lead. The teams traded scores for the rest of the first half however Milltown just had the edge at half time, Milltown 2-05, St Lomans 2-03.
The second half was much the same as the first with the two teams really going for it and serving up a very interesting and fast game of football for all supporters. Milltown were leading coming up to the last few minutes of the 60 before St Lomans scored their third goal to take the lead by a single point. Milltown never panicked though and from an excellent running play, which included goal keeper to full forward, Milltown were awarded a deserved penalty. This was converted and gave Milltown back the lead at the end of full time. Final score, Milltown 3-12, St Lomans 3-10.
Milltown also had a game on Friday night in the Division Six league when they welcomed neighbours Ballymore to the pitch. The visitors had scored 1-05 before Milltown registered their first score of a point, which was all they manged for the first half. Score at the break was Milltown 0-01, Ballymore 1-07. The second half was a much closer 30 minutes with the supporters for both teams treated to good scores at both ends of the pitch. Milltown began to claw back the deficit but Ballymore kept kicking over the points and had the higher score at the end of the game. Final score Milltown 1-07, Ballymore 1-11.
